8. Dead Poets Society

Conclusion Hello and welcome to my last post about "Dead Poets Society", I'm sorry but this project comes to an end now. 😢 Today I'm gonna cover everything from my opinion about the book to my experience of writing a blog. Enjoy! My opinion about the novel? At first, I'm gonna talk about my opinion. I think, that Dead Poets Society is a very important story because it tells us, what it means to be ruled by his father and not able to live life as you want and even more important: How to look at life from a poetic perspective and that you should "seize the day" . Although it's an important novel, I guess, that it could be better,      for example, there could be a better look at, what the four pillars mean for the students and that they are not perfect. I'd say, that the book was okay, not special and not boring. There was enough drama but too little action for me, but action is of course not what I  expected when I read the summary.  ...

The theme in Dead Poets Society Hey Guys, today I'm gonna analyze a main theme in Dead Poets Society . A theme is an idea or point that is central to a story, maybe this is a bit difficult, but I hope you will enjoy it.      🤪 My Theme:   Suicide Obviously, Dead Poets Society handles with different themes such as individuality or dreams. But today we're only gonna analyze another very important theme, suicide. What does "Dead Poets Society" say about suicide? If we think of suicide, we often think of people with depression or young people, that are bullied in school, but DPS says something different. In DPS, we see Neil Perry killing himself, because he can't do what he wants to do, not because he's bullied or in a deep depression. That tells us, that many things can lead to suicide, even if you're not able to live your life as you want, suicide is an option for Neil. DPS is also about the reaction of the students to Neil's death, it covers wh...

Has Mr. Keating reached what he wanted? Hey guys, today we're gonna discuss if Mr. Keating reached his goal with macking the boys more open-minded and sensitive when it comes to life and poetry. As you know from my last post, Neil killed himself and we found out, that Mr. Keating kind of triggered something deep in Neil so that he questioned the decisions of his father. In addition to this, he changed Todd Anderson, the shy one, so he could speak freely in front of people. All these changes suggest, that Mr. Keating reached his goal. On the other side, his lessons led to Neil's view on his life from a perspective, that ended in his suicide. Neil wanted to be an actor and he would rather die than become a doctor. I think, that John Keating changed the boys in many ways, he taught them to enjoy life and wonder about the world and its poetic background. But after all these changes in their minds, Neil's death even changed them more and maybe made them even more rebellious. ...

Neil is dead: Who is to blame? Oh my god, it's so terrible, Neil just shot himself!! Today we're going to discuss who is to blame for this terrible suicide.  😭 As you know from my characterization, Mr. Keating teaches very differently and maybe his deep entry into the poetic world caused a conflict in Neil. He wanted to be free and do what he loved: Acting . When his father saw, that he played his role against his father's will, he decided to send him to a military school, then to Harvard and then he has to become a doctor. Maybe this shocked Neil, cause that would have meant 10 more years at school, and that's not what he wanted. I think that Mr. Keating's "teaching style" taught the boys to think more freely and that's why Neil didn't want to be a doctor. Because he wouldn't have been happy with it. This conflict, between his passion and the will of his father, led to Neil's suicide. It's most likely, that Neil's father...

Characterization Hello there, today I'm gonna give you a short characterization about Mr. John Keating. Enjoy! In the novel " Dead Poets Society ", written by N. H. Kleinbaum, John Keating is one of the main characters. He is probably about 50 years, with brown hair, a round face and blue eyes. Normally he is wearing a brown suit and a white shirt. Mr. Keating is a teacher at Welton and the English teacher of our Dead Poets Society members. His behavior is changing in every situation, sometimes he is excited, for example when he stands in a table in the classroom, or he is calm, for example when he walks around the campus while he's whistling. John Keating thinks that the boys should "seize the day" he wants them to look at life from a poetic perspective and not just learn the stuff they have to learn. He has a special connection to the boys who revived the Dead Poets Society. Mr. Keating teaches differently and that's why he is more liked and appr...

My favorite Motto Hey guys, how are you doing? Today I'm gonna talk about my favorite motto, which is important and motivating for me. MY FAVORITE MOTTO IS:   The man who asks a question is                            a fool for a minute. The man                             who does not ask is a fool for                             life.                                                         -Confucius Sound not very poetic right, but I hope you enjoyed it. Actually, there are many mottos or sayings that I like but for now, this is, kind of, my favorite one. There are two reasons why I prefer this one. First, ...

Summary Chapter 3 Hello guys, today I'm gonna give you a short summary of chapter 3 of "Dead Poets Society". Because the stories in the different chapters are connected to each other I'll give you a short summary of the chapter before too, so you can understand what chapter 3 is about. What happened before? After the students chose their extracurricular activities, they talk about their study groups. Suddenly Neil Perry's father walks in. Summary: Neil's father says to his son, that he's taking too many extracurricular activities. After Neil resits his will, he takes him out of the room to yell at him. After Neil got back to the others he feels frustrated, he doesn't understand, why his father is always that hard. Knox and Charlie trie to give some tips for a better relationship with his father, but Neil doesn't want them. He accepts the decision of his father. Charlie breaks the silence when he askes if anyone needs a refresher in Latin. ...

1. The four Pillars Hey guys and welcome to my first real post. Today I'd like to talk about the "four pillars" of Welton Society, the school in Dead Poets Society. What are the four pillars?  The four pillars are the four major values of Welton Academy, the boarding school that our characters attend. The four pillars are:  H onor , t radition , d iscipline and e xellence . They are fundamental for the school's high level. The pillars are probably comparable to guiding principles even if they are much stricter than at normal schools. At Welton Academy, the four pillars are so important that they are presented and celebrated at the beginning of every new semester. O k, now that you know about the pillars, I'd like to tell you what I think about them.  If I'm honest, I don't like schools like Welton that put excellence and discipline into the center of everything. Cause I believe, that life is to short for not having fun and learning things you'...

They meet in a hidden cave outside the campus and revel in the recital of all kinds of poetry. The boys start to be true to each other and everything seems to be turning out fine. Then a tragedy happens!! Okay, I ...
